You may also know 2 Step as the "Texas Two Step" and it is, by far, the most popular of all the country dance types. Anywhere there is country music and a dance floor, you are sure to be glad you learned how to 2 step dance.
Country two step is a progressive dance which means that it travels around the outside of the floor similar to a race track. For new dancers, the follower usually travels on outside of the floor, while the leader dances just inside of her on the floor leading her through the moves.
After a short time learning how to 2 step dance, intermediate levels country dancers will begin to dance "weaved" variations where the leader and follower trade positions back and forth.
The basic steps of 2step are quite simple and consists of two "quick" walking steps, followed by two "slow" steps (which is is counted as "quick, quick, slow, slow"). The leader will turn the follower alternating between left and right turns, while mainly walking along side of the follower keeping the rhythm.
It has been said that learning how to 2 Step dance one of the most simple country dances as the follower's job is "turning and walking" while the leader's job is "walking and turning her."
Country 2 Step is fun for dancers of all ages and will certainly be useful in any social situation where country music is played.
